Coordinating digital regulation in the UK: is the digital regulation cooperation forum (DRCF) up to the task?

The shift to online commerce and communication in the global pandemic, Cambridge Analytica scandal cancel culture exacerbated by social media platforms have demonstrated our increasing reliance on digital platforms. Digital regulation is receiving scrutiny globally and, UK, as exemplified recent Markets Services Act European Union establishment of Unit within Competition Authority UK. In July 2020, Authority, Information Commissioner’s Office Communications formed Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF) coordinate between various regulators. April 2021, Financial Conduct also joined DRCF a full member. Against this backdrop, paper explores coordination UK analyses how effective contributing objective. It argued that effectively respond challenges posed technologies, regulatory authorities must be extended formalised avoid fragmented enforcement. Whilst step right direction, it needs engage more closely with other relevant stakeholders.
